How to Re install and reformat: Step by Step

⚠️ Before You Start:

Backup your important data to an external drive or cloud storage.

Have your Windows product key ready (if needed).

Create a bootable USB with the Windows installation media.

🧰 Step 1: Create Windows Installation Media

Download the Media Creation Tool from Microsoft:

https://www.microsoft com/software-download/windows10

Plug in a USB drive (at least 8 GB).

Run the Media Creation Tool and choose:

Create installation media (USB flash drive)

Select language, edition, and architecture (64-bit)

Let the tool create the bootable USB.

💻 Step 2: Boot from the USB Drive

Plug the USB drive into your computer.

Restart the computer, and enter the boot menu or BIOS (usually pressing F2, F12, DEL, or ESC during startup).

Choose the USB drive as the boot device.

Press Enter to boot from the USB and launch Windows Setup.

🗑️ Step 3: Reformat the Drive

When prompted, choose Install Now.

Accept license terms and click Next.

On the “Where do you want to install Windows?” screen:

Select the main drive (usually labeled Drive 0).

Click Delete on each partition (this removes old Windows, recovery, etc.)

Select the Unallocated Space and click Next.

Windows will now format the drive and begin installation.

🖥️ Step 4: Complete the Windows Installation

Wait for Windows to copy files and reboot (don’t remove the USB until it says so).

Follow on-screen prompts to:

Set region and keyboard

Choose settings (personal or organizational)

Sign in with a Microsoft account (optional)

Set up a password

🔧 Step 5: Install Drivers and Updates

Once Windows loads, connect to Wi-Fi or Ethernet.

Go to Settings > Windows Update and check for updates.

Download and install:

Graphics drivers (NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel)

Audio drivers

Chipset and motherboard drivers (from manufacturer’s website)

✅ You’re Done!

You’ve now reformatted your drive and installed a fresh copy of Windows. Be sure to:

Install antivirus

Restore backed-up files

Customize settings and reinstall your apps
